world sportscar championship
A now-defunct motorsport series sanctioned by the FIA that ran from 1953 to 1992. The series was based around endurance racing, primarily featuring prototype-class (including the iconic Group C) and GT sports cars as the racecars. The WSC featured a number of iconic endurance races during it's run with most years including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours at Daytona, and the 12 Hours of Sebring.
The World Endurance Championship was founded in 2012 as a modern revival of the WSC.
