american le mans series
A now-defunct American car racing motorsports series, created in 1999 as a successor to the IMSA GT Championship. As the name implies, ALMS was designed to bring Le Mans style racing to American and Canadian tracks, featuring endurance races with Le Mans prototypes and GT racecars.
The American Le Mans series had it's final season in 2013 after a merger with Grand-Am Road Racing, with the new IMSA SportsCar Championship taking it's place in 2014.
