Any hairstyle where hair is arranged so that hair that would otherwise fall from gravity is pointing up. Does not include afros or gelled styles, instead the hair should be kept in place with clips, bands, and/or braids. While ponytails can technically be considered "updos", the term is most applicable to more elaborate styles, and (IRL) are most commonly seen on special occasions like weddings.
