shoukaku (kancolle)
The personification of the Japanese aircraft carrier Shoukaku in Kantai Collection.
Character design by Konishi (koconatu), voiced by Nomizu Iori.
Appearance
The Shoukaku-class ships wear a shorterned miko uniform with arm bracers and thigh boots with propellers protuding from them. Like most archer carriers, they wield a bow, their flight deck is attached to one of their arms and wear muneate but theirs has a kana inscribed on it ("シ" in this case).
Shoukaku herself has long white hair with a hairband. Her flight deck is attached to her right arm. The straps of her muneate are white and red.
For her second remodels, she has two forms that she can remodel between. A Normal Carrier Form (Kai2) at level 80, which can field the second highest number of planes with a balanced arrangement and an Armored Carrier Form (Kai2A) at level 88, which gives her better armoring, the strongest potential firepower of all carriers and the ability to launch planes at moderate damage for the price of a lower plane count and higher maintenance costs. These remodels are noted to be hypothetical.
In both forms, she wears a more refined version of her original clothes and gear, with a different boot design (simple thighhighs with bulky shoes) as well as tasuki. She is given a full-size yumi instead of the shorter bow she previously used as well as upgraded anti-air guns to her waist gear.
For Kai2, she has a wooden flight deck and an uniformly red hairband.
For Kai2A, it's now a black armored flight deck and a tan hairband with a white stripe. Armor plating has been attached to her thighs.
For a promotion with Japan Airlines about the Sasebo Naval District's 130th anniversary, who better to represent the company with the Crane logo than the girls named after the bird? Shoukaku's outfit in this promotion features a white turtleneck, a long red skirt, pantyhose and pumps. Her headband has been replaced by a similar hairband, tilted to the same position, featuring the JAL logo in white. She is carrying a purse and wheeling along some luggage.
She is one of several ships who have an explicit abyssal counterpart in the form of Aircraft Carrier Water Oni.
Since the relationship between Zuikaku and Kaga became more popular following the anime, Shoukaku is often paired with Akagi as a counterpart to the ZuiKaga couple. An alternative pairing appearing as of the Summer 2020 event is a pairing with Hornet.
