scythe
A traditional long handled agricultural tool used to harvest whole plants, such as hemp or wheat. Commonly used by the grim reaper as a tool to reap souls, or by other mythological beings.
Although seen in anime as a weapon, it is only tangentially connected to the "war scythe", which is a polearm having more in common with a naginata than with the original tool.
