rugby
A team sport played between two teams of either thirteen players (in rugby league) or fifteen players (in rugby union) using a ovoid ball. There are quite a number of differences between the two codes of rugby ([1]).
The object of the game is to score by either:
- Touching the ball on the area of the pitch behind the goalposts, thereby scoring a "try" worth either four points (in rugby league) or five points (in rugby union), followed by an attempt of a "conversion", an attempt to send the ball between the goalposts and over the crossbar between them, which is worth two points in both rugby codes.
- Penalty goals, done in a similar fashion to a conversion, worth either three points (in rugby union) or two points (in rugby league).
- Drop goals, worth either three points (in rugby union) or one point (in rugby league).
