Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (メタルギアソリッドV ザ・ファントム・ペイン) is a video game from the Metal Gear stealth action game series published by Konami. It was released in 2015. It would be the last Metal Gear game in the series to be directed, written, and designed by Kojima Hideo.
Combined with Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the prologue and initial part of Metal Gear Solid V, it is the eighth and ninth entry in the series. It is the first to have an open world gameplay structure. It used the then-new multi-platform and open world Fox game engine developed by Kojima Productions, which would be used for few games afterwards, mainly Pro Evolution Soccer. The game's been released for the PC, and the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One home consoles.
