afghanistan
Afghanistan is a landlocked country at the crossroads of Central and South Asia.
Nicknamed "graveyard of empires" due to its history of having several major powers being involved in the conflict within the country and comes out empty-handed due to a combination of heavy resistance and the country's rugged terrain. Most notably the British in the late 19th century, the Soviet during the 1980s invasion, and the 20-year involvement of the US that ended in 2021.
However, the country suffered from constant internal conflict throughout its modern history, with the armed militant and terrorist organization Taliban managed to overthrow the government and became its current government shortly after the US's withdrawal from the country in 2021.
