A fashion style based on the style trends of the late '90s and early 2000s, the cusp of the new millennium - as well as 2000s retrofuturism.
The modern Y2K fashion revival has been spearheaded by musical acts such as PinkPantheress and certain k-pop girl groups - most notably NewJeans.
Some notable characters that wear fashion similar to the style include Kujo Jolyne, Ulala, Starfire, Barbie, and the cast of Winx Club.
Elements
Color palettes often consist of pinks, purples, blues and whites. Green and tan are also common, especially in less futurism-focused outfits. Clothing tends to use a variety of materials, but particularly shiny materials, fur, and denim. Sequins are often used, as are prints such as leopard spots and camo. Butterflies, stars, and hearts are particularly common motifs.
Common garments include tube tops and cropped tank tops and big jackets on the upper body, and oversized pants such as cargo pants or bell-bottoms, denim shorts and skirts, or miniskirts in bright colors on the lower body. Bottomwear often has a low-rise waistline.
Outfits are often accessorized with colorful jewelry, "futuristic" accessories such as goggles and headphones, chunky plastic sunglasses and belts with heart-shaped or jeweled buckles. Other common additions include leg warmers, various kinds of hats (especially fluffy hats and caps), and bags with distinctive appearances. Common footwear includes fur boots and various forms of platform footwear such as heels and sandals, and sneakers.
