Edit
Also called a wind-bell, the wind chime is a decorative object suspended in midair that has three basic forms: (1) a cluster of small pieces of metal, glass, pottery, bamboo, seashell, or wood that collide with each other and make noise when blown by the wind; (2) a cluster of tubes or rods, often made of metal or wood, that are rung by a central clapper, to which is attached a flat plate to catch the wind; and (3) a single bell or open-ended glass globe whose clapper is attached to a flat plate to catch the wind.
