The honey badger (Mellivora capensis), also known as the ratel, is an omnivorous mammal widely distributed in Africa, Southwest Asia, and the Indian subcontinent.
The animal is characterized by its cylindrical body, non-prominent rounded ears, sturdy legs with five toes on each foot, and claws. Its coat color appears to be greyish beige on the upper half, and black below.
