A video game/visual novel published in 2010 for the PlayStation Portable by Spike. The game has often been described as a mix between Ace Attorney and Battle Royale. Komatsuzaki Rui is the official illustrator.
In 2012, a sequel called Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair was published, also for the PSP. The first game received an anime adaptation in 2013, and a sequel and prequel anime set after and during the events leading up to the Despair Incident mentioned in 2 in 2016, titled Danganronpa 3. The two animes have spin-offs of their own. Danganronpa Gaiden: Killer Killer, that follows the Future Foundation's work in the midst of the apocalypse, and Super Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the World Destroyer, an OVA that takes place inbetween 2 and 3.
It also has a prequel novel called Danganronpa/zero. A spin-off game named Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls was published in 2014. The third game Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony was published in 2017.
For the 10th Anniversary the game Danganronpa Decadence was announced for Nintendo Switch. This includes all three main titles and Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp.
There are also spinoff novels that follow two characters from the first game, Danganronpa Togami and Danganronpa Kirigiri.
The fan game Super Danganronpa Another 2, made by the Korean game developer LINUJ, was released on January 10th, 2020.
