Remix this screenshot of the Shanghai mission of Battlefield 4, simply replacing the large news broadcast on the face of the building with Lain from Serial Experiments Lain.
awesome work man with the spiritual successor coming out (no idea why Yoshitoshi Abe didnt just make a direct sequel i mean the character design is lain mixed with the angels of habane renmei anyway) this hits wonderfully... also Lain\Abe was right about social media.

I'm kinda out on Despera. Ryutaro Nakamura was the only person with a vision who worked on Serial Experiments Lain and he's been dead for 13 years. Abe is a total hack, the only writing credit he has in his near 30 year career of mediocrity is Texhnolyze (which is fucking AWFUL) and Chiaki hasn't written anything successful since 2007. Despera will be the same, no studio has wanted it for 20+ years because it's badly written and destined to flop. I hate to blackpill but I grew up with my dad's extremely rare signed VHS set of Lain (now a collector's item worth nearly $4k lolol) and it's an objectively bad show, NOBODY remembers the brown goo monster, NOBODY remembers the awful Cyberia scene (other than the kiss), NOBODY remembers the CIA agents pointing lasers through her window, NOBODY remembers the ending where she fights some black haired floating guy calling himself God, NOBODY remembers the family drama plotline that was instantly dropped, NOBODY remembers the names of Lain's friends. None of these scenes added anything to the plot, they just happened and were forgotten immediately by the plot and never had any impact on the story. Nobody likes Serial Experiments Lain, they just think Lain herself is cute because wouldn't it be nice to have a cute, young, spergy computer nerd gf? And that's fine. I love Lain for that reason too, but the show is objectively fucking terrible and nobody remembers details from it because it's terribly written. Despera will be equally shit but without the directing talent of Nakamura. This is coming from an actual Lain fan who *watched* the fucking show unlike most performative Lain "fans". Don't get your hopes up. It'll be the talk of the town in niche internet circles for 3 weeks, then everyone will get bored and go back to Lain like it never happened. Nobody will have a Despera profile picture 30 years after it aired.

Also my power went out while typing this, (https://files.catbox.moe/pti1ux.jpg) that's a PROPHETIC coincidence. Maybe I shouldn't insult the goddess of the Wired or she'll literally throw tree branches on the power lines
